About Me

Emma Wood MBACP

My Story

My path to becoming a counsellor began with my own experience in therapy. At the time, I didn’t know how transformative it would be, but that experience planted the seed for what would become my true calling. After working in a different field that left me feeling unfulfilled, I took a brave step in 2021 to pursue my passion for helping others by training at Iron Mill College.

Today, I am proud to be a qualified practitioner, registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), and I’m here to support you on your own journey to healing.

My Approach to Therapy

I believe that every person’s journey is unique, which is why I use a client-centered approach to ensure our work together is tailored to your specific needs. With a foundation in person-centred therapy, I integrate techniques from gestalt, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), and mindfulness. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or other concerns, I provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can feel safe to explore and grow.

I’m committed to working with empathy and honesty, helping you find clarity and achieve your mental health goals, at a pace that feels right for you.

A Little About Me

Outside of my practice, I’m passionate about living a balanced life. I love reading, cooking (and of course, eating!) vegan food, and spending time outdoors, whether hiking on Dartmoor or enjoying my garden. I also love attending gigs and festivals with friends and family. In the winter, there’s nothing I enjoy more than curling up with a good book and a cup of tea.
